SASSA Online Registration

To Register with SASSA (South African Social Security Agency), Follow these simple steps:

Visit Website & Initiate Registration

Go to https://services.sassa.gov.za/ site.
Search for “REGISTER A NEW ACCOUNT” tab and Click “Register”.
Click on the “Register” button.

Agree to Consent Terms

An Online Application form will appear.
Read through the consent terms carefully.
Agree to the terms and click “Apply“.

Submit the Details

Register as a User by providing the following information in the application form:

  • Citizenship Status:
    • South African Citizen
    • Permanent Resident
    • Refugee
  • Identity Document Type:
    • Identity Document/ID Document
    • Temporary Id Number
  • Identity Number
  • Title (Mr, Mrs, Miss)
  • Surname
  • Full Name
  • Email Address
  • Password
  • Country Code
  • Cellphone Number
The following fields are optional: Existing Grant Type, Existing bank, and Existing Residential Address.

Complete Registration

After submitting all required Application registration information, click on “Register Me“.
You will receive an OTP on the mobile number provided during online registration.
Enter the OTP in the field to confirm registration and click “Verify“.

Confirmation

On successful verification, you would receive a confirmation SMS/Email once the SASSA Registration is completed.

There is no mass Re-Registration currently required by SASSA, as the agency itself announced in July 2025. However, Sassa Online is rolling out a new mandatory Biometric Verification system for all new applicants to fight fraud and plans to collect the biometrics of existing clients at their next touch points (applying, reviewing or inquiring).

Additionally, if you wish to Re-register, the following documents will be needed.

  1. 13-digit South Africa identity document.
  2. All birth certificates of Kids receiving a Child Support Grant (CSG) must be provided.
  3. Court order/s for all Foster Child Grant (FCG) recipients are required to be submitted as copies.
