Visit the Official Sassa Website
Enter your Details
  • Fill in the required information accurately:
    • South African ID Number (13-Digits)
    • Phone Number (10-Digits)
  • Then, Click on “Submit” button.
Check the Status Online

After submitting, you’ll see a list of months with their statuses. Select the Month you want to check, typically the latest one. You might see something like this:

Your SASSA Grant Application process is still under review. Sassa has received your application and verification process is ongoing. Please Check back later for updates.

Approved:

Great news! Your SRD Grant Application has been approved, and funds will be disbursed soon. Keep an eye on your Sassa Account.

Declined:

There might be issues with your SRD Application like income proof, eligibility criteria, age verification, wrong Banking Details, or certificate errors. You need to Contact SASSA directly for assistance.

To apply for R350 / R370 grants, a person needs to meet the following criteria:

  • Every South African Citizen is eligible.
  • Each Grant has its own eligibility Requirements, which are slightly different.
  • Checkout the Grant Requirements.

  • Visit the SASSA website : Www.sassa.gov.za
  • At the top of the page, click the Login link.
  • You will see the Login screen, which will have options to:
  • Get your username or reset your password.
  • Choose the right option, either Reset Password or Get Username.
  • A new screen will pop up asking for some information, like your ID number and phone number.
  • Fill out all the required fields.
  • The information you forgot (password or username) will be sent to the Cellphone Number you gave.

  • Visit the Official Sassa Srd Website at Srd.sassa.gov.za url.
  • Choose "manage My Personal Information."
  • You will see a form with your current personal information.
  • Change the information that needs to be changed, such as your phone number or address.
  • Press the "Save" button when you're done making the changes you need to.
  • We will send you a One-Time PIN (OTP) to the cellphone number you gave us.
  • Type the OTP into the box to reconfirm and validate the Update.
  • It will be updated successfully once your information has been verified.

A Sassa Grant Application is declined for Several things that could cause disapproval. The main ones are:

  • Unfair Decision: Because you met the SRD's eligibility requirements, you think the first denial was wrong.
  • Changed circumstances: Maybe you applied too long ago and didn't match the requirements. Don't worry—we'll help.
  • Missing Data: Your Application may contain missing information which you didn't include in the Form.
  • Update your payment method: Check online if your entered correct Payment details.

  • Submit an Srd Appeal.
  • Contact the Support Team:
  • After submitting Sassa Appeal, check back "Sassa Srd Status" after 7-10 days (Chances that your Grant is approved).

A Procurator is someone who works for a beneficiary or applicant and manages their grant or applies for it on their behalf.

The beneficiary and/or the procurator can access a grant that is linked to a procurator. However, the applicant will also get notifications of changes in circumstances or status updates about grant applicants.

  • The list of Document Proofs that are Required is automatically determined based on the information provided in the Application Form.
  • The Questionnaire also provides a list of required documents, but it does not activate the upload functionality.

Actions Available for Each Document

For every required document in the list, the following actions will be available:

  • View – to preview the document.
  • Upload – to submit the document.
  • Remove – to delete or replace the document.

Mandatory SASSA Affidavit

  • In addition to the supporting documents, every application must include a SASSA affidavit specific to that grant type.
  • The affidavit must be completed in full and uploaded as part of the application.

  1. "Means Test" applies to all social grants except for the foster child grant.
  2. Means test is meant to make sure that social grants go to the people who need them.
  3. SASSA's will look at various things like your Income, Bank Statement, Identity, Income Deductions, and Assets to see if you are eligible for a social grant.
  4. Means Test is just a way to find out if you can get a grant that is meant for people who don't have enough money to support themselves.

  • Foster children grant (FCG) is distributed to children under 18 placed in foster care by a Children's Court. The foster parent is any person other than the biological parent of the child.
  • The magistrate's court decides who cares for the child with help from Department of Social Development workers.
  • Foster children and their caregivers must live in South Africa to qualify for grants.
  • Foster care status must be verified by court order when applying.
  • This grant will only be effective during the court order.
  • Before the court order expires, the social worker must assess the case to see if the child's situation is the same. Court approval is needed to extend the order. The prolonged court order allows the grant to continue until the next expiration date.
  • Foster child grants can last until the child becomes 21 if they stay in school. Foster child grant applications must be made annually after 18. This application requires school attendance and extension order proof.

  • The Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant is a three-month temporary aid for those in extreme need. The SASSA social relief of distress grant amount varies.
  • You qualify for a social relief of distress grant if your primary earner has been medically unfit to work for less than 6 months, has been admitted to a private or public hospital for at least 1 month, has died and application is made within 12 months of the death, or is awaiting payment of an approved grant.
  • If your community has not been declared disastrous but you were affected by a disaster, you may qualify.

  • The Care Dependency Grant (CDG) is for the caregiver of a chronically and severely disadvantaged kid under 18. Due to significant mental or physical handicap, the child needs permanent care or support.
  • The grant is meant to reduce the expense of caring for seriously handicapped children.
  • The Caretaker cannot get this grant if the child is cared for full-time in a government-funded institution for more than six months.
  • The Caretaker can be the Child's Parent, Primary Caregiver, or Foster Parent. If married, you and your Spouse must meet Means Test minimums.

  • The Disability Grant (DG) is for people 18–59 who cannot work and support themselves due to a physical or mental disability.
  • The disability grant is permanent or temporary for 6–12 months. When your temporary grant expires and you're not ready to work, you must reapply. Disability grants are not available to recipients of old age pensions.
  • Medical evidence of disability must be submitted within three months of application. Married couples must pass a means test.

How much Amount can i get with this Grant?

Limit R1 890 per month. Depending on the means test, payment may be lower.

In the month the beneficiary turns 60, the grant becomes an OAG.

Older persons grants, often known as old age grant, are for men and women 60 or older who are not in a state facility and do not get another grant. Older residents of subsidized facilities like old age homes can apply for the grant.

A means test applies to married couples.

How much Grant Amount do i receive?

  • Over-75 years of age, pensioners receive a maximum of R1 910.
  • Under-75 years of age, Pensioners can receive up to R1890. The means test may reduce the Sassa Amount.

  • A Child Support Grant (CSG) helps out a youngster under the care of their biological parents or a permanent caregiver.
  • A primary caregiver over 16 who is either the biological parent or unrelated to the child receives the payment.
  • Thus, if they can prove they are the primary caregiver, people who care for other children and meet their daily needs can receive the Child Support award.
  • This person must be responsible for the Child's Daily Care.
    To qualify, married couples must meet a means test.

A Grant-In-Aid (GIA) is a supplementary grant for people receiving a social grant (OAG, DG, or WVG) who need regular help with bathing, dressing, cleaning, washing, and other personal tasks due to physical or mental disabilities.

People receiving disability, older adults, or war veterans grants receive this supplementary grant.
